DOM tube

Anyone know a good place to buy this locally. I want to build some traction bars and need to buy some. Trying to avoid getting hosed on the deal. Still not sure if I should get 2" x .25" wall or 1.75" by .120 wall if they are around 5ft long. It is some pricey stuff for short lengths online. I would consider a full stick if the price is not crazy.

Tom,

Check any local metal fabrication shops, they should have that sort of thing in stock.

Check with any "custom" offroad shops. They also might have it or could get it.

Tom,
I always go to Hinton Steel off Santa Fe and Evans for all my steel. If you're just building a track bar, I'd say that 1.75 .120 wall should be enough. 2" .250 wall is HEAVY.

Do you have to buy full 20 ft sticks there and what might you guess on a price for this stuff.

Tom, depending on what you're buying, you don't need to buy a full stick. I'd say for 1.75 DOM, you're safe to buy any length you want. I'd say maybe $4/foot. Call first, they'll give you a quote, then pick it up.

I called Hinton and it was $4.81 a foot $81.50 for a full stick and I think they said they only wanted to sell a full stick.

C & M on Old Hampden in Sheridan was just under $4 a foot and would sell half sticks. I will probably run over there in a bit.

Really? I buy partial sticks from those guys all the time. But when I'm looking for 1.75, it's usually in whole sticks. It's the odd size stuff that I always buy 5' or 7', etc.

I was at C and M yesterday. I should have just asked and called you to let you to be sure you had the DOM stuff, as I'm headed to Littleton today.

Sorry I misinformed you, I'm surprised they don't sell it by the foot.
